Early breast cancer detection saves lives.

To date, 20 states have such limited funding they now have to limit, or eliminate, free and low cost cancer screening.

Thankfully, there are many charities that assist women battling cancer. These charities help women once they have received a definite positive diagnosis of cancer.

There are thousands of women that find a lump through self exam who can not afford a medical exam, relying on the free and low cost screenings that are currently being scaled back.

Breast cancer is the leading cause of death in women between the ages of 40-55, and yet because of new government recommendations and limited funding, some states are no longer offering screening to women less than 50 years of age.

Thousands of women DO get screening, only to be referred to diagnostic testing they can not afford.

Although there are charities that assist AFTER a diagnosis of cancer has been given, there is a frightening amount of women that fall into the void…they need diagnosis but can not afford testing, and so they wait. And too often these women miss their opportunity to detect their cancer at an early stage, and possibly save their life.

Courage Is My Strength is racing to make a difference by raising money to assist these women get the screenings and diagnostic testing needed for early detection.
